The Establishment War on Ted Cruz

Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace interviewed Texas Senator Ted Cruz this weekend with an interesting twist.  Wallace admitted to Karl Rove that

…As soon as we listed Ted Cruz as our featured guest this week, I got unsolicited research and questions — not from Democrats, but from top Republicans — to hammer Cruz. Why are Republicans so angry at Ted Cruz?

I had a feeling something like this might happen — the GOP would rather expend more energy hammering one of their own than to use that energy to attack the President and his allies.  Who does the GOP feel more threatened by?  Obviously, Ted Cruz.  The Stupid Party strikes again!

Sarah Palin chimed in goading Chris Wallace to make public the names of the Republicans who provided him with the dirt on Cruz.  Wallace is under no legal or moral obligation to keep that information private, but fat chance!  Wallace and crew have that Establishment vibe and like the “in-crowd” privileges they get.  As such, the sad state of affairs in DC roll on.

UPDATE:  Apparently, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Whip John Cornyn were trying to get votes against Cruz’s efforts behind the scenes.  More overtly, some right-friendly editorial pages are trying to tear down the Cruz effort.  With friends like these, right?
