The Democrat’s Awful Work Ethos

February 9, 2014

In the midst of a CBO report indicating that Obamacare will be the direct cause for the loss of at least 2 million full-time jobs moving forward (that’s a low-ball number in my opinion), the spin from the left this week was outrageous!  To quote Nancy Pelosi, “this was one of [Obamacare's] goals: to give [...]

Bernanke Announces QE3

September 13, 2012

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke announced that the Fed will purchase more than $40 billion a month of mortgage-backed securities, or in other words to embark on a third round of targeted quantitative easing as a way to help the stalling economy.  The markets rallied, Wall Street was smiling, and in no way was this [...]

Boehner vs. the CBO

January 6, 2011

I like how the Republicans are not getting the kid-glove treatment from anyone these days — it’s straight to the knives!   The symbolic move to repeal Obama Care is getting some on guard.  The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) scored the projected cost of NOT spending over $1 trillion over ten years for six years of [...]

The “Public Option” Still Lurks

July 23, 2010

Of course, when Tom Harkin called the Obama Care monstrosity merely a “starter home” we all knew the push for the public option and ultimately the statist goal of a single-payer system would not be too far behind.  Well, here it is:  about 130 Democrats have put their support behind adding a public option to [...]

Can You Stabilize the Debt?

May 24, 2010

Via @MediaLizzy I came across this timesuck in which one can try to reduce the federal debt to 60% of GDP by 2018.  It is an interesting exercise, although I do reject some of the premises that the site makes.  First, it takes a static analysis on tax cuts, assuming that extending the Bush tax [...]

CBO Snafu: Social Security to Start Bleeding in 2010

March 25, 2010

In the same week that the largest new entitlement program in 45 years just became law, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has issued numbers indicating that Social Security is going to pay-out more than it takes in not in 2016 as projected but in 2010!  The official “day of reckoning” has been moved from 2041 [...]

ObamaCare on Life Support

March 18, 2010

I am getting increasingly confident that ObamaCare as it is currently construed will not pass.  Despite the attempts of the state-run media claiming that Stupak’s supporters are caving (they’re not), despite Pelosi’s continued claim that she has the votes, this bill isn’t gaining momentum.  Both the state-run media and Pelosi are trying to create that [...]

Stimulus Price Tag $75 Billion Higher Than Initially Thought

January 26, 2010

The Stimulus Porkulus Bill that passed in early 2009 was projected to cost about $787 billion.  The CBO today revised that figure upwards by $75 billion, bringing the total projected cost for the stimulus to about $862 billion.  This is due to the fact that the projections put forth by Obama and the CBO for [...]

What does Obama have on the CBO?

December 1, 2009

Pure speculation here, but it seems that the CBO has done a 180 in the last several months.  Initially, their predictions on the cost of ObamaCare were pretty harsh to the Democrats, and fairly accurate.  In recent months, they seem to be using skewed accounting to illustrate that ObamaCare will: Lower the deficit Lower insurance [...]

1,502 Pages

October 20, 2009

1,502 pages.  That’s the size of the Baucus Bill monstrosity that has finally been published by the Senate finance committee.  That is one massive piece of legislation.  Republicans and Conservative bloggers are scrambling to read the bill, to determine exactly what it is that the government is going to be passing.  Yet the Senate wants [...]

Obama’s CBO Headache

October 7, 2009

Why can’t the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) just go away for a few months?  Don’t they know that the Chosen One, Our Dear Leader, the Most Beneficent Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, mm) wants to fundamentally transform this nation and to do that he must have free reign in all areas, without criticism and with [...]

The $1 Trillion Health Care Debacle

July 15, 2009

The Democrats in the House of Representatives released their version of health care reform yesterday, and the CBO clocked it in at a cool $1 trillion over 10 years.  As Michelle points out, it’s even worse than that.  To keep the numbers down, most of the plan doesn’t go into effect until 2015, back loading [...]
